I believe this value is properly set somewhere in the OS. In this case,
somewhere in the window manager's settings. I know that in Gnome's case,
there is a setting for setting up the default email application along with
default web browser and others. Same is true of Windows. I cannot speak
for KDE and certainly not of other Linux UI environments.
If your environment utilizes the default mailer app setting, then I think
that would be the best to choose unless, of course, you have good reason to
do otherwise and while I cannot imagine one, it's probably just a
deficiency in my imagination this morning.
