ahh..good question:

dsimmons at linux-8eax:~> file /usr/bin/firefox
/usr/bin/firefox: symbolic link to `../lib/firefox/firefox.sh'

which explains it.....if it was the 64-bit version, it would be in ../lib64

SO....I'm off to 'undo' all of the 64-bit plugin's that I just did and
load the 32-bit ones...thanks for everyone's help!
