[NTLUG:Discuss] PHP Help Please

I need some help improving my web site for the distribution of my Linux 
book (dearroz.com), and wish to use PHP.  I do not believe that it is 
appropriate to have the discussion via the discuss list, so ask for 
someone to send me an email off-line and we can converse that way.

What I want to do is in the section of the frame to download, open a new 
window (got that working) which asks for the user's name and email.  The 
the user enters their name and email, which on submission, appends the 
data to a file, closes the window and opens a new window where the user 
can download the desired files.  I am going through a number of books, 
and am not able to figure it out (obvious to those that know I am sure). 
  For some reason it is not like making a telephone ring.

I have a form to obtain the user name and email, but beyond that, the 
examples from the books do not work as shown.  Help please.

Appreciate for outside help.
