You know... I have looked at it but from a shared calendaring 
perspective.  At the time I didn't want Zimbra to take over the 
functions of the MTA .  There is a Zimbra  VMWare appliance that is 
ready to run.  I may have to look into Zimbra a bit more to see how well 
a Zimbra server could act as say a home firewall/router/web/ftp/email 
server.
