First, as Chris said, back it all up!!!

Boot in knoppix (or any good rescue CD)

dd if=/dev/sda | ssh ip_of.wonderful.linux.host 'gzip -1 > /big/partition/hp.sda.dd.backup.gz'

Wait a long while.

There should be NO error messages.

Partitioning. As Chris said, 20 GB is a base install of Vista, you may
well need more.

Fedora 8 - I am a long time RH/Fedora fan (I've run nothing but RHL,
RHEL, CentOS, Fedora since RHL 5.0) All my home systems are RHEL,
CentOS, Fedora. EXCEPT my notebook now. I've given up on getting
wireless (Broadcom 4311) and other things running under Fedora (6,7,8).

I Gave up and went to Ubuntu. It works flawlessly as a desktop, joe
user system. It drives me nuts because everything else I work on at
home and at work is RedHat based, but only Ubuntu got all the hardware
in my notebook working....
