Nope...that 'trick' is about how to (re)write the MBR on a drive to
cause THAT drive to boot (and search for the boot information on the
Master Boot sectors - on that drive.....which, it sounded like, you
currently don't have?).   Forget about the rest of the
article...maybe a google search on 'fdisk /mbr' will convince you more?

Was just trying to save you the whole 'backup, erase, reformat'
just to re-write one sector.....
