[NTLUG:Discuss] Logitech VX Nano Mouse

So I've got this awesome new Logitech VX Nano mouse. It's a wireless
mouse for notebook computers that has a really small USB receiver dongle.

It has two regular mouse buttons, a scroll wheel, left-right scroll
wheel tilt, a 3rd mouse button that would normally exist where the
"click the wheel" lives and two small buttons directly to the left of
the left mouse button; one up, one down.

I'd like to use all of the buttons and I don't seem to be able to yet
that I know of. (And perhaps I already am using them and it's just
various applications that will not see them)

I'm playing Doom3 and trying to assign some buttons on the mouse to some
functions in the game. I have been able to assign the tilt-wheel
buttons to actions (they are Mouse3 and Mouse4 according to the game)
but the two small buttons are not registering within the game at all.

Now when I use these buttons within other applications such as this mail
software (thunderbird) I can use the small up and down buttons to select
text but nothing else...and they behave identically. (I cannot use the
small buttons to "click" anything though.)

So maybe the mouse is working already and it's just the software, but if
anyone has any ideas to try, I'm ready!

(Also, during testing, is there a way to use or apply changes made to
/etc/X11/xorg.conf without having to restart X?)
