Depends on who you ask. "Free" appeals to everyone, especially the
suits. Rhymes with productivity. "Better" is subjective and may not
mean the same to engineers and end users. Licensing and support,
as well as productivity, can make or break acceptance by management
of any platform. Their personal involvement by way of having a non-M$
desktop that works for them will go a long way toward corporate
acceptance, especially if all those other factors are positive (in their minds).
