The Open Source Initiative looks forward to working with Microsoft

Submitted by nelson on Tue, 2008-04-01 04:09. ::

As you can see, there have been some changes here at the Open Source
Initiative. We've decided to stop fighting Microsoft and join them.
After all, Microsoft has been using, maintaining, and distributing Open
Source software for years now. As this Information Week
<http://www.informationweek.com/news/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=2069058
58&subSection=News> article says, Microsoft will be putting Open Source
components into Office. As Linux Torvalds said ... when they Open Source
Office, we win. That, coupled with an eight-figure buyout offer which
has personally enriched each and every OSI board member, we feel is
sufficient to turn the keys to the realm over to Microsoft.

The first day in April is a particularly tricky day...

Well, an eight figure buyout, that would sure figure into my strategies.
Intriguing, though. I expect odd things when the Mayan calendar calls
for the end of the world in, let's see, 2012, I think. Wasn't sure
today would signal the end times, but I guess in a way I should have
expected it.

Until I can get Windows installed, I've put a 'start' button on my XFCE
system bar, just to show solidarity.

Options, options, just where do I want to go today?
