[NTLUG:Discuss] E-mail config concerns

I have a yahoo address, but SSL has made it all but impossible to configure on evolution So I signed up for gmail and am told I need a gmail notifier as well as Python 2.3 or higher.
Please reply with specifics as advancing age seems to inhibit comprehension. Do not laugh you will get there.
