It's an indexer. So locating files, emails, websites,
etc. with a word/phrase is simple. Helps you find things.
However, it is a Mono thing... and like Java things,
I find the stability to be less than desirable.

Yes and no. I think in general most GNU/Linux users
fall into the "smarter than the average bear" camp.
But at the same time, I've used beagle to hunt some
stuff down... so it can actually be a useful tool.
Indexers when they do their thing can be a bit
heavy handed. locatedb and mandb can also be
heavy consumers of resources. But beagle can index
everything, and if it's configured to index everything,
it can be a real pain when it kicks in.
Like you said, if it gets in the way, nuke it!
