[NTLUG:Discuss] Any way to unlock a locked device?

Do you have the Audio out from the CDROM Drive connected to the CD jack 
on the sound card?

I haven't had to mess with that in ages since I hardly play audio CDs 
anylonger, and maybe all new drives are designed to be played digitally 
rather than using the internal digital-analog hardware.

It has been a while since I saw a volume control on the front of a CD.
