Yes...should probably preference my
statements. In the original email string (erased due to funky
formatting which made it almost un-readable), I said how I was using the
card on an OpenSuSE 11 system...and had been using that card for awhile on
a few other distros.
I was trying a large variety of LiveCDs to
find my 'next' workstation OS - and each one 'froze' at the GUI login
screen (could get to runlevel 3 no problem). Since the system had
frozen (and I mean hard) and because it was a LiveCD - I didn't have
access to log/messages/etc. Which is why the Subject of the email is
'Boot Up Parameters'.....I was trying to see if I could pass kernel
configs to the system to get the graphics working....to no avail.
Santa was nice and I was able to get a 9800GT. Replaced the
card - and problem was solved.
So....call it what you will - it
was broke - but now runs. I was just creating a 'solved' response
for others that might be searching for that same graphic issue/card.
