Howdy,
  Or, more simply just make sure the CD is checked in synaptic. Intrepid
leaves the CD source turned off by default.  If you know the package you
want, you could just navigate to it with nautilus, and double click on
it.  The default action should be to use Gdebi to install the package.
Richard's suggestion should work, too.
