Okay.  Finally got it taken care of.  I installed Lenny and grub and the 
Lilo install from Slack 12.1 is FINALLY gone.  I did use fixmbr and 
fdisk (made a dos boot disk through partition magic, plus I installed 
about 4 other different versions of Linux and I still had the Lilo from 
Slack keeping things from booting.  Yeah, I know you can edit the config 
file, but that only works when you know where it is.  Thanks to all for 
the assistance.  Lenny saves the day!
