[NTLUG:Discuss] Getting Flash to work

One of the big reasons that I like using Linux Mint
(http://linuxmint.com/) is that it includes the Flash plugin so that when
you go surfing to CNN.com's video section.....Hulu.com (to catch up on
some shows), etc - I don't feel like a second rate citizen because my
system works like any other....until something get's messed up and Flash
stops working.

One of the easiest ways to remedy this is to
make sure that you're not running/have installed the
'flashplugin-nonfree'...but instead have running/installed the
'adobe-flashplugin'

For this Debian based distro - that means
starting up Synaptic...using the 'Quick Search' area with the word
'Flash'....and then chosing for installation / or Marking for Removal
depending on what needs to happen.

Hope that helps someone,

dave

P.S.  Ok - also realize that Flash is
propriety and there's a EULA associated with it that you should read
through and agree to....some among the computing / Linux community can't
agree to the terms.   There are some open-source substitutes -
but I haven't found them to be as stable and/or reliable as Adobe's
Flash.......so maybe they could just use SilverLight......grin  (Ok,
I'm looking for that abestos suit now before the real flame wars
start!).
