to install flash and the other morally questionable software in ubuntu
you can run this command:
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
that is a virtual package that has these dependencies:
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse,
msttcorefonts, flashplugin-nonfree, unrar, gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad,
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse, gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg,
libavcodec-unstripped-51, gstreamer0.10-pitfdll, libmp3lame0,
libdvdread3, sun-java6-plugin
