#1 How about reading the web site I referenced?

#2 The point is not making a general purpose distro or to make anything
easier, but to learn more and understand better what goes into a distro
and maybe even to be able to participate and/or contribute more in the
development of your favorite distro.  (Surely you aren't all take and no
give?)
