Hello everyone,
We have several pieces of computer equipment (mainly old servers and
server chassis) that we are no longer using and need to get rid of. I
don't want to just throw them in the trash, but I don't know exactly
what to do with them. I am in the Mid-Cities area of town. Does
anyone know of somewhere I can take them or anyone that will come and
pick them up? Most of it is fairly useless, but some of it could be
useful if someone was really desperate. In my experiences in the
past, I have found that most of the "erecycling" companies I have
found charge a lot and then don't show up to pick up the stuff when
you schedule them. It also seems most cities don't want to deal with
it either, although they all say you shouldn't put it in the trash.
I know there is also the common suggestion of "donate it to a school
or somewhere", which I would be fine with, I just honestly don't have
half a day right now to track down who I need to talk to and
coordinate the donation.
So, to sum up my question, what do you do with computer equipment
when you want to get rid of it (some working, some broken)? Do you
know of any cheap or free solutions that would not involve much more
than possibly one or two short emails and/or calls and possibly a
reasonable drive somewhere?
Thanks,
Preston
