[NTLUG:Discuss] Laptop recommendations?

I always recommend Dell because their business level support is still
best as far as I am concerned. ALWAYS get the gold level warranty with
on^site service and accidental damage coverage. "Things happen" to
laptops. Another thing I would do is buy the smallest hard drive with
Windows installed and then go to NewEgg to buy the drive you want to put
Linux on... or dual boot Windows and Linux if you must. the original
drive should be kept pristine for support purposes should you ever need
it. It just helps to have certain ducks in a row to enable support
situations to process smoothly.

If we were talking about Desktop machines, I wouldn't worry about any of
that stuff, but in the case of laptops, it's a rather different story.
Also, get a "business" laptop, not a consumer laptop as certain support
options are not available to certain models and series. So go for
Latitude or Precision line Dells.

The main reason I like Dell is the easy availability of parts through
sources and sources like eBay or local liquidators. My frustration
levels have been the lowest with Dell.
