[NTLUG:Discuss] W3 Web Validators - Good or Bad?

I'm sure some of you do web page work.  What are the opinions of the
value of web site validators?  I've used several like the W3C site.  I
have run them on some websites and they report hundreds of errors,
other sites come out completely clean.  I've had a couple "webmasters"
tell me they are a total waste of time.  Of course these sites report
massive errors.

The few sites I work with, should I try to get them to pass the
validators, or not worry about it?
