The next big Ubuntu LTS is upon me.
In preparation for that I upgraded my Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 9.10 on 2
machines. Absolutely painless.
Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04 will be an upgrade in the Update Manager which I
think is great because it preserves all my personalizations.

Then the fun started.
To upgrade my Linux Mint 7 Gloria to Ubuntu 9.10 I had to do fresh
installs on 2 machines.
I have been up for most of the last two days or recharging my
batteries while asleep in my chair. Nothing preserved, I lost
everything.
Got it done though. Love it.
Linux Mint was OK but too stable for me. It is for people moving from
Windows who are terrified of Ubuntu.
It is Ubuntu... just more well behaved which means it is nothing like Windows.

Now I am reaping the benefits of a leap forward in productivity.
Ubuntu 9.10 is a big improvement over 9.04 and an enormous leap
forward from 8.04.
As the iPad has shown, computing is finally focusing on the User
Experience (UX) and not the technology (hardware+basic software).
Looking forward to the mysteries of Eucalyptus and VirtualBox OSE...
a cloud in my home.
