Patrick,
  When the bug I referred to was entered, 10.04 Lucid was only in Alpha
release.  The guy would have a better case now, although still only if
you thought Sun Java was important enough to hold up the release.
 I'd also say the release candidate is usefully tested and called a
release candidate, if the disk itself is believed to be ready to go.
There could still be packaging work going on in the repositories up to
release day.  At least, I think this would not be a unreasonable
position.  I can see the other side.
