Sorry - been there done that - the limits for the CF card are not there
- at least I couldn't find it

I tried a bit further and I did find, off you lead ...

... wherein it is reveled, not the limit for the compact flash memory, 
but at least the limit of the testing that has been done. In short, CF 
cards have been tested up to 2GB on some printers and up to 1GB on other 
printers - but of course the 7310 is not specifically mentioned.

It is also mentioned that while both type I and type II CF cards are 
supported, there is the possibility that newer high speed CF cards may 
not be.  Their recommendation? - go back to an older version of card.

Well, that sort of, kind of, maybe, answers my question ... close but no 
cigar?  Sigh.
