This is just in case anyone is interested ...
HP said the printer does not support above 1GB on the CF cards
Personal testing found that the printer has no problem with a 2GB CF 
card, but doesn't do well with a 4GB CF card
I bought a USB 2.0 CF Card Reader ($6 and some change), and with it any 
CF card should be able to be mounted and read directly by a Linux computer

That last part is really good news for me ... it means that if the 
printer dies, I won't have to include a CF card reader as a requisite in 
the replacement.
Also, reading the files from the CF card is far faster with the card 
reader ... a decided plus

So now, all I need is some inexpensive, easy to use, functional, video 
editing software ... without too long a learning curve (I know ... 
asking too much)?
