Well thanks to Linux I was able to recover my winders data.  I wasn't 
able to mount NTFS with the bare bones rescue tools from the Mandriva 
install disk.  I guess the NTFS code wasn't compiled into that kernel. 
So I built a bootable install on my USB drive and all went without a 
hitch after that.

Flexibility and power is Linux middle name.  Wimpy and handcuffs are 
Winders idea of innovation.

Next time I won't let my backups get so old.
