Howdy,
  I found a great setting last night in Firefox 3.6.  They changed the
way new tabs work in version 3.6 and it was really distracting.  If you
are tired of having to search for your new tabs, just open up a new
browser tab and put a URL of about:config.  Enter a filter name of:
    browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent
 and set its value to false.
