[NTLUG:Discuss] Sound Problem

Thanks to everyone for help.  I was aware of the the "default volume
off" issue.  Hadn't found

but it didn't work for me.  I have tried so many thing and programs I may have this machine so screwded up I may never get it straight.  

Anbody got any ideas about how to start all over -- short of reinstalling the whole system!
