[NTLUG:Discuss] OT: NEC MultiSync LCD1935NXM

I have an NEC MultiSync LCD1935NXM monitor that seems to have gone into 
total failure, and I wonder if anyone thinks it may be salvageable?
Symptom:
    It went blank (black) ... first darkening at the bottom, then the 
whole screen
    Power cycle would cause the display to light up and show the proper 
image for a moment, and then blank again
    Re-seating the VGA (15 pin) cable had the same effect
    There was never any image distortion
Any ideas?  Thank you
