Don't take this the wrong way, but I have never heard of the motherboard
as a limitation to virtualization.  As long as the CPU supports it and the 
motherboard is rated for the CPU, you are good.  

Have you heard something different?

It depends on the virtualization system you are using. KVM requires a
virtualization enabled CPU.
