  Thanks for the notes.  You had one thing there I had on my list to
figure out.  It was how to turn off the screensaver.  I am working on
a general purpose digital signage solution based on the Pi and I'll
use it there.  You say geeqie stalls if you add or delete images.
Could it be that it really stalls only if you delete images?  I could
see that case not being handled well, and you could just delay the
deletion of old images for a while to get around the problem.  Maybe
do those deletes in a cron job that runs off hours and restart geeqie
again then.
