I routinely encourage my Computer Science students to attend NTLUG
meetings for participation points.  Problem here is that these
students don't necessarily want to attend a meeting where the crowd is
40+ (sort of the same problem ham radio has).  So the secret is to
somehow make it cool for these kids.  

There are a lot of high schools in the area with Computer Science
programs.  As much as it hurts me to say this, it's almost a
requirement that NTLUG has a Facebook presence, because these kids
live and breathe social media.  If you want the young people to come,
you need to play by their rules.
