Time.

These folks are preparing computers for use by blind people who not only
don't know Lunix at all, but have some fundamental difficulties using a
computer AT ALL, and are doing hundreds of installations. The time and
effort involved in doing what you suggest would make their job MUCH harder.

Just for grins, unplug your monitor and your mouse. Now try to accomplish
something on your computer. That's the world of the blind.
