[NTLUG:Discuss] CentOS server not keeping correct time

Howdy,
First, I would change the place you sync to. Maybe not permanently,
but at least long enough for a test. Take out the centos and go to
0.pool.ntp.org in /etc/ntp.conf.

Secondly, is your ntp service running, or it it just synced once at
system startup? A quick test for this is to see if the daemon is
running now. What does "ps aux | grep ntp" show(type only what is
inside the quotes.

Third, could we see your config file for the daemon? Mostly, I want
to see if you are setting maxpoll or minpoll, but I also want to see
if anything else you might be specifying could have an effect.

Finally, could your harware clock be so far off that ntp is not
keeping up? I don't know what to check, or if this is possible. It
seems theoretically possible, especcially if you are adjusting
minpoll.
Good day,
Ralph
