Concerning F keys, I assume you've tried Ctrl-Alt-F1 through possibly
F10. On openSuSE Ctrl-Alt-F10 shows start up messages. Another option
may be to boot with the install DVD and select a repair or recovery
option. My desktop (OpenSuSE 13.1) didn't boot recently (only happened
once - don't know why) and I booted to the install media then selected
hard disk boot which was successful. What might be helpful at this point
is to get to the point where you can look around on the hard drive - the
Live media should be able to accomplish that.
