Don't know enough to try other options.  Do know that this system does
NOT support EFI or UEFI, so if the boot loader is trying that, it would
fail.  And you are correct that I don't get far enough to try anything
command line.  The LiveDVD is working, that's how I get the install to
start -- just not sure what's going on "under the covers" that's not
working.

I can happily meet up with somebody anywhere in the DFW area if somebody
want's to go "hands on".
