Howdy,
  Welcome back.  I'd like to know what audio recording program you
used.  I have experimented with several, but you probably have more
time using them for real.

 I'd recommend looking at some ARM based device running Linux.  I say
running Linux, because some Chromebooks are ARM and low power, but
ChromeOS is much less flexible.  Personally, I'd probably use a
Raspberry Pi 3 with a hard drive and a 7 or 10 inch screen.  Other
boards are available and each has pluses and minuses.  You may want a
bigger screen.  This is a fairly inexpensive option, which I like.
