[NTLUG:Discuss] @home static IP (was: New to this area)

According to the persons I have talked to they were given an static IP address.
I was going to get the service around two months ago I was going to have a
static IP. However I changed my mind at the last minute & decided to get DSL. I
really do not know what to advise you other that speaking with the reps at
att at home or maybe a trial and error type thing by assigning you nic a static
IP?????
