AT&T at Home now will not install without an approved OS installed at the time
of installation. They don't care what you run after that but you will have
to have a Win 95/98/NT/2000/ME installed and they can't be the server
editions of NT or 2000 just Workstation or Professional.

Beyond that they will provide you with a static ip address although they
will set you up to use DHCP. In my experience it's been best the less I rely
on AT&T for anything. SO I don't use their DHCP, mail, new nothing but the
cable line for access which when it works is great. When it breaks it takes
a week to fix, regardless of the reason. The reasons in the last year have
all been to human error when they've been working on the lines, boxes and
such in the neighborhood. That being said I've gotten faster resolution to
bug and pester them and work my way up the chain of command. It doesn't help
when their support centers are all over the country.
