Richard has it I think.  The main reason for ISPs not wanting you to run
servers is because of the concern of consuming available bandwidth.  I
think
as long as you don't generate huge amounts of hits... you're probably
safe.

I know that when I spoke with Internet America about hosting the ImPress
application using my free web space, they were concerned about the
number
of hits it might get.... and basically they said that if it ever crossed
over the "threshold" (some subjective amount of traffic), that I'd be
billed like a business. ... my choice, I chose not to put ImPress on IA.
