Isn't it interesting that someone using Microsoft Outlook, a notorious
spreader of viruses, worms, and trojans, complains because a Linux list
"cannot or will not" resolve his email questions?

Sir--others have dealt with all kinds of mail clients with no problems.
Most of my mail is received at the moment through the Windows side of my
dual-boot machine, running Eudora (a free version of which is downloadable
from www.qualcomm.com). I have also used Incredimail (www.incredimail.com),
Opera mail (www.opera.com), and Pegasus (available through www.tucows.com)
...all of which are likewise free clients.

With all of these, I have not had the trouble you report in Outlook. Of
course, the last time I used Outlook was on a job where the company tried
to mandate it for employees...but I had no trouble there, either.

Since the problem appears to be unique to you, and since email lists send
straight text files, perhaps your complaints should be with MIcrosoft?
Surely it is not the responsibility of ANY list maintainer to solve your
Outlook problem--whether the list is a strictly volunteer effort like NTLUG
or a commercial one.

I strongly recommend you try one of the other email clients I have listed
and see if you still have the problem you have reported. Personally, I
think your system setup and/or your ISP would be much more likely to be the
culprits here. It simply isn't possible for the list software NTLUG is
using to have the problem you speak of and not also have it show up with
the many others who are receiving list traffic normally. I daresay there
may be one or two others who are suckers--er, ah, "persuaded" enough by
Microsoft propaganda to be running Outlook and receiving the list traffic
normally.

Of course, you can always get the list through Linux email and be done with
the problems!
