A "daemon" or console process written for OS-X could well be easily recompiled 
on Linux.

A GUIed program would require that similar GUI APIs be available on Linux, so 
that if the OS-X program uses the "Quartz" rendering system, not available on 
Linux, it would be problematic to port it over.

The likely answer is that the "cool, GUIed stuff" probably won't be 
particularly portable...
