AFAIK,
You will need to recompile the linux kernel to support SMP.

If you are adding a processor with a already running kernel then you will
need to recompile.. but if you are installing linux after the dual processor
setup then you do not need to do anything.

I am about to setup a server with two processors and I have never done so
with Linux.  Is there anything special that I need to make sure that they
get configured to work or will Linux take care off all of that
automatically?  I am going to use RedHat 7.3.  Thank you.
