Actually, if you are adding a processor after Red Hat 7.3 is installed, 
simply install the -SMP kernel RPM located on the installation disk 
(actually download the one from errata), mkinitrd if necessary, edit 
grub.conf (or lilo.conf and run lilo), and reboot with an SMP aware 
kernel.  One thing to remember about Red Hat kernels, 2.4.18-5 is not 
really a vanilla 2.4.18 kernel, it has several patches that are not in 
the mainline tree yet.
