So far so good.  If you installed win98 after you installed linux, it 
would overwrite the MBR, and if you put LILO/GRUB there, well, let's 
just say that your boot disk would come in handy. :)

I would use win98 fdisk to set up a fat32 partition that takes up 
however much space you need for win98, then tell 7.3 to install in the 
free space on the rest of the drive.

Win98 does use FAT32.
