When you boot up the Linux machine, what shows up in the boot messages about
eth0 (since you are using Debian, the boot messages should be in
/var/log/dmesg)?
If nothing shows there, what shows in /var/log/messages when you load the
natsemi kernel module?

This indicates to me that the card is not getting initialized correctly
(therefore, my questions above).
