This may answer some of the questions Kenneth had to upgrading to RH
8.0. For a little more background, I upgraded to 8.0 on a CompUSA
466Mhz PII, 256 Megs mem with a 6 Gig main drive and 40 Gig secondary
drive (I use the 6 Gig drive for my Windows 98 drive and a partition on
it for /boot for Linux, that's it. The rest of the installation is on
the 40 Gig drive).

When I do a ls -l /usr/lib/libIm*, I get libImlib.a, libImlib.so,
libImlib.so.11, libImlib.so.11.0.0. libImlib.so and libImlib.so.11 are
sym links to libImlib.so.11.0.0. I tried installing the latest version
of Enlightenment on my system and I still can't get into my normal user
account (I'm writing this as root right now).
So, I'm still stuck. When I attempt to log into my normal user account,
Wayne, pass xxxxxxx, I immediately get an error telling me my session
lasted less than 10 seconds and to check the /.xsessions-errors file and
checking that file after the install of the latest version still yields
the error found above.
So...is there a configuration file I should be looking for under the
desktop of my user account that might account for this? What caused
this to begin with was, I was using Gnome 2.0, switched to Enlightenment
temporarily and then switched back to Gnome in the same session (unless
it's changed, I know that Enlightenment used to run on top of
Gnome...don't know if that's still the case or not). I had not logged
out of the session before I switched back. So...is this telling me
there's a problem with the install of Enlightenment? The other stuff
with Samba will have to wait until I can log back on as a normal user.
By the way, the other users I have set up on this box work just fine,
but they have not been switched to Enlightenment either.
The other thing about the sawfish window manager is that I am running
sawfish 2.0 with Gnome 2.0 and it will not start...it just does nothing
with no errors that I can see or find. That's in answer to the question
Kyle asked.
Thanks again,
Wayne
