It's simple.  They've "gone greedy".  You can't buy RH 9 at Fry's 
anymore.  But you can get the new "Professional" W/S for $99.  But you're 
SOL if you want to serve anything.  For that, you have to buy the $300 
Enterprise version.  For $300, I can buy W2K Server on E-bay in a new 
box-set complete with registration.

I think others will emerge to fill the update void.  Having someone 
consolidate and test updates from around the world is worth some money.  I 
thought $60/year was reasonable.  Soon it will be a thing of the past with 
Red Hat.
