Brandname means junk these days. Heck, it's hard to even trust a model.

Vendors change manufacturers almost every model, and sometimes even
mid-model. You've got Bromax and only about 2 other Tawainese vendors
who are competing for the same space of dozens upon hundreds of OEMs in
the US, Japan, etc...

It used to be that you could trust a brandname to at least have a good
service policy. But on a $50 product, with a razor thin profit that has
them cutting corners on the quality of even the plastic mold, that's
rare anymore.

I mean, consumers care about cost, not the long-term survivability of a
product. In fact, most consumers assume you have to upgrade every 2
years anyway.

Which is why the superstore model works so well.
Because consumers are willing to accept it over quality.

Unfortunately for Linux, it is very anti-superstore model, resulting in
vendors not releasing drivers.

     Linux Enthusiasts call me anti-Linux.
   Windows Enthusisats call me anti-Microsoft.
They both must be correct because I have over a
decade of experience with both in mission critical
environments, resulting in a bigotry dedicated to
mitigating risk and focusing on technologies ...
           not products or vendors
