[NTLUG:Discuss] Best NIC

Howdy,
I would say there are two that stand above the rest. They are the
Intel nics and the DEC tulips. Intel bought DECs nic line and put the
tulips out of production, but there were so many made that you still
find them. I have at least 6 spares. The Intels are maybe even better.
At one time, they were way too expensive, but you can find them cheap on
the surplus market now. Then, a noticeable step down comes the 3com and
then everything else. I don't hesitate to use a 3com, but if a tulip or
Intel is available, I'll take it. I would not use anything else on a
system with high network demands. All my top three choices are well
supported on just about any Linux.
Good day,
Ralph
